Re: Odd Insights into Hekate

Just an aside note but makes one wonder why the Weeping Willow hasn't gained an association to Hekate considering it pretty much replaced the Yew in many cemeteries and pubic graveyards. It was both a representation of eternal weeping over the deceased but also representation of the memory of about...

Re: A list of reference material for Hekate research.

monsnoleedra, I believe if you wrote a book about Hekate, you could be acknowledged as the best expert on that subject .And how do you want us to call you shortly, because it is very difficult to remember your name? Not sure i'd qualify as an expert on the subject, but I appreciate the though. I've...

Re: A list of reference material for Hekate research.

Thanks. There is much to say about Hekate, with little actually being said here and elsewhere. Have you looked into Tuba Veneris? Is your list ordered in any way? Which books would you particularly recommend? BM This list really wasn't designed to say much about Hekate individually. It's simply a l...

A list of reference material for Hekate research.

This is about Hekate but not a specific discussion item so not sure where to place it. She has come up in a few discussions so thought other's might find this useful. It's a list of reference item's I've put together over time for myself. I've shared it before on other sites so people may have seen ...

Re: Starting things off w/ an article by Leonardo Drakon

A very interesting article. A good one too. I found amazing that according to our member Leonard Drakon there was an aristocratic and also a rural way how ancients gods were approached and understood. This idea is extremelly intriguing.... :goodpost I have a lot of questions prepared, but let us se...

Re: Starting things off w/ an article by Leonardo Drakon

That's a pretty good write up regarding the PGM. Seem's every time I go through it I find something new or it makes me look at things in a manner I hadn't though of in a similar light. Quite a bit of combining aspects of various divinities powers as well. Not conflating them together as one but comb...

Re: Odd Insights into Hekate

What gets interesting with Hekate I think is she get's many things assigned to her as "sacred" due to association. Things found in graveyards such as Yew Tree's tend to become "Sacred" not because they are associated to her in lore but because they are found in graveyards. One I ...

Re: Odd Insights into Hekate

In most lore I am familiar with Hekate's sacred wood is Hemlock which also has a connection to both the underworld and is deadly. Do you mean the Hemlock tree (Tsuga ssp.), native to Japan and North America, or the Hemlock herb (Conium maculatum), native to Europe and North Africa? It is the latter...

Re: Odd Insights into Hekate

monsnoleedra :goodpost What I am going to write below are not my thoughts at all, but I tried to summarise some more modern interpretations of Hecate. So I wonder what you think what can be right and what can be wrong from the below few sentences . Yes, off course, I would also like to hear Pablo's...
