Dressing up for daemons?

Post#1 » Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:48 am

I was curious about all of your view on whether it helpful to dress up when summoning entities. By "dress up" I mean formal wear like a prom dress, tux, suit, makeup, jewellery, accessories, hair styling, etc., not a ritual robe.

I have always been of the view that appropriate attire for magickal workings is:
* clean
* a natural fabric such as cotton (which rules out much formal wear which is made out of synthetics)
* preferably all white (sometimes all black), unless using a planetary/corresponding color
* no synthetic fragrances; fragrances should be natural and in harmony with the entity/working
* comfortable enough to sit and meditate in; not constricting to affect energy flow or movement; not sitting on sequins unless you want sequins imprinted on your bum; etc
* no images of human/animal faces on clothing (in case spirits decide to inhere to them unwantedly)
* I was also taught to cover the head during evocation for protection, but I know many traditions don't do that
* Something that might get you into a ritual mood.
* Sometimes, the same garment repeatedly for the same working or type of working.

So, all that works well with a ritual robe or similar garment. This is with the exception of workings which prescribe a certain costume such as workings in the Picatrix where you dress up as certain types of people.

However, I have come across a couple women online who insist you should dress up (as in like for a date) for an evocation (any kind - angels, daemons, etc) so the entity thinks you're hot. Seven Spheres also mentions wearing a suit for Jupiter evocations.

I had typically dismissed women online doing that as trying to get likes/followers - whether or not the demons show up, the daemons of social media will reward you.

But I have heard stories in some places about spirits possessing pretty girls (which I had also always dismissed as cautionary tales about "don't let pretty young girls walk around the forest alone", as well as the idea that a good looking young person is probably energetically healthier and hence appealing), and I've heard that in China there is the concept of dressing up to attract the spirits. I suppose that being dressed up also emits a certain higher energy. Also, while I have always been of the view that entities care more about the appearance of your energetic body than your physical body, if one makes aesthetically pleasing objects for an entity, I suppose there could be something to an aesthetically pleasing physical appearance.

I have personally only encountered one entity which expressed an opinion about what I was wearing. More specifically, it told me to remove everything (evocation in the nude) - which, technically, isn't dressing up.

What is your experience - do you dress up for daemons?
