Ancestor work and luck?

In The Chaos Protocols, Gordon White maintains, ""You will never find a more effective, broad-based, 'luck' practice than providing offerings to your ancestors and the dead. The differences it will bring to your life are night and day." (The Chaos Protocols, p. 76)

I have been thinking about this for... quite a while.

Does anyone have any experiential proof of this? Apart from the view that ancestor work is ancient, part of some traditions, etc.

That is, insofar as it is possible, does anyone have direct experience of ancestor work leading to luck (or neglecting ancestors leading to bad luck)?

(Note that to my understanding, he considers ancestors to refer to blood kin only, known or unknown - not adopted kin, in-laws, members of a spiritual lineage, spiritual teachers, etc)
